I was watching the Wyrd Sisters' spring tour schedule fill up - like a big doughnut with London as the void in the centre - and I thought it was probably too late to do anything about this year, but it couldn't hurt to ask, so I did: What would you need to come to London?
The Wyrds told me, and, in a moment of insanity, I said, "I can do that."
So I designed tickets and posters and had everything printed and distributed, and the tickets sold - all of them, in a big hurry - and there was no turning back. I was in so deep so fast it was terrifying and overwhelming and stressful and I made some mistakes - but live and learn and do better next time - and hopefully feel a little less like I've been run over by a freight train when it's all over. Most of the best things in my life have come from doing something that was initially terrifying, and this was no exception.
I know my ignorance was hard on the band, but they rose above everything with the utmost professionalism and presented a show which was a thrill and delight to everyone in the packed house. The most common question I received from audience members after the show: How soon can you bring the Wyrds back?!
Many many thanks to London Webmasters, the Village Idiot, the Landon Library, Home County Folk Festival, my crew: Loretta, Dylan, Claire, Mandy, Emily, Heather and Doug for helping to make this concert possible, and, of course, to the Wyrds for their incredible grace in suffering the mistakes of a first time concert presenter and pulling off a wonderful show for us all in spite of everything: Kim, Kiva, Lindsay, Julene and our sound goddess Sunny!
