"Amanda? Amanda?" They all asked. "Amanda!" But the Faeries were growing fuzzy and drifting away.
"Who can tell me how far the train has travelled when the plane has covered a distance of 1200 kms? Amanda? Amanda? Amanda!"
"Wha?!"
"How far has the train travelled when the plane has gone 1200 kms?" repeated Amanda's teacher.
"Ah..." faltered Amanda.
"I see," said Amanda's teacher. "Too far off in your own little world to be bothered with what we were learning here in class. Is that it? Perhaps you would like to come up here and work this problem out on the blackboard for all of us then. That might help you to stay focussed on the task at hand."
"Actually..." For a fleeting moment, Amanda considered telling her teacher and the class all about her adventures in Twilight Tanglewood and Raindancer World - but then she realized that they probably just wouldn't understand. "I mean,... Yes ma'am."
As Amanda rose from her desk to approach the blackboard, she smiled down at her notebook. The math problems were now completely overrun with sketches of Faeries and Tree Trolls and prismatic Portals and cryptic messages written in a strange, angular script.
