release me from this mortal realm
wherein i'm damned to wander lost
the thirst full threatens to o'erwhelm
and drink i must at any cost
i spied a sweet young thing, inviting
her curves enveloped, held me tight
but cursed i'm ever to be blighting
i drank my fill and more that night
long months then passed, i met a boy
a collegian, all bright hopes ahead
fresh bud of manhood, his mother's joy
but now he's gone, no blood was shed
some nights i'm known to prey on children
tiny sprites in bed well lost in dream
their juice is fresh and pure and wholesome
and freely offered, so it seems
i know you hate me, curse my being
a gypsy yet upon your plain
but look at me, know what you're seeing
a child of darkness, drowned in pain
so release me from this mortal realm
wherein i'm damned to wander lost
the thirst full threatens to o'erwhelm
and drink i must at any cost
