"Lilith! You must keep going! The fire is threatening to over take you!"
"I don't want to kill these flowers," Lili explained.
"They'll all die if you don't stop the fire," the Salamander pointed out. "Sometimes we have to make sacrifices for the sake of the greater good."
Lili threw her sword down and whirled on the Salamander in anger and frustration. "I don't want to do this anymore!" she shouted. "I'm tired and I want to go home!" She then turned away again, wanting to hide her tears from the strange lizard and her face from the heat of the approaching flames.
"I know child," the Salamander soothed. "You have worked hard this day, and our realm is thankful for your gifts to us, but there is no easy road home for you. The portal through which you entered our realm was naught but a temporary rift, caused by the faeries calling you to them during a time of such turmoil throughout the parallel realms. That portal is closed now. You cannot go back but must press forward -- and quickly. If you do not reach Raindancer World by sunset, the spell by which the faeries attempted to call you to them will have lost its power, and you will be trapped in the Elemental Realm forever!"
