Lili landed on her face, dizzy and dusty and reminded just a little too much of her ungainly entrance into the Elemental Realm back in the Gnomes' northern lands. She was growing a little tired of being tossed about by the elements, not to mention being lectured at and commanded by the Sylphs and, freed now as she was from the pit which seemingly held the unfriendly Sylphs imprisoned, Lili would probably have ignored their instruction to plant the acorns around the pit and wandered off in search of Raindancer World herself -- if she had had any idea of where that was. The truth was, however, that Lili had no idea where she was or which way to go. Plus, the air was pretty thick with smog and unpleasant to breath. She didn't know what good her small handful of acorns would do, but she knew that she needed the Sylphs' help in order to continue on her journey, so she decided to do their bidding.

Lili had no spade or other digging implement so was forced to dig up the earth with her hands. This made for arduous work, and she was soon covered in dirt, but she kept plugging away at the task, working her way around the pit until she had planted thirteen of the golden acorns. No sooner was the thirteenth acorn in the ground, however, when Lili heard a great rumbling sound, and the earth all around the pit started to shake. Lili watched in awe as first one, then the next, then the next acorn sprouted, sending young shoots out of the ground. Lili had to scramble quickly away from the seed which she had planted last as it too sent a young tree shooting out of the ground.

The shoots quickly grew and matured into tall oak trees in the space of a few minutes, and Lili fancied that she could actually feel the air around her lightening as pollutants were drawn out of it. The Sylphs must have felt this too, for they soon rose up out of the pit and began to dance around the trees, weaving their way in and out of the new grove in delight -- a pleasant breeze now; no longer the angry whirlwind which Lili had first encountered.

"You have done well human child," declared one of the Sylphs. "These trees are surely a blessing to our realm. Please accept this gift as a token of our appreciation for your work here today."

As these words were spoken, a magnificent silver sword materialized and hung in the air in front of Lili. Lili reached out tentatively to take a hold of it and found that the sword was exactly the right size and weight for her -- as if it had been custom designed for her alone (which, of course, it had)!

Lili, no longer afraid of the Sylphs and feeling as if she might actually be starting to like them, thanked them for the sword and set off across the plain in the direction which the Sylphs indicated, towards the southern fires where the Salamanders dwelled.
