Using Animations Part 1:
Direct Play from Inventory

The simplest way to play an animation in Second Life is to call it directly from your inventory.

Find the animation and either double click on it or right-click and then select Open

This will open a window which will allow you to Play the animation Locally -- meaning that the animation will only be played in your client. Everyone else will see your avatar still engaged in whatever you were doing before -- or to Play it in World, so that everyone who can see you will see it. You can also select Play in World or Play Locally directly from the right-click menu in inventory.

Play Locally is a great option for trying out new animations you have acquired but not created yourself -- like all of those freebies floating around in Second Life -- without risking other people seeing you perform a lewd act you'd rather your avatar not do in public!

If you want to get fancy and combine your animations with sounds and chat, Gestures are the way to go.
